Electric Cars Up for Debate

We are always keeping an ear to the road when it comes to the latest innovations in the automotive industry, and electric cars have been a hot-button issue in our business for a few years now. While these battery-powered vehicles are meant to protect the planet from pollution, they pose other problems that would require them to be reworked before they become the go-to vehicles for drivers everywhere.

According to The Washington Times, President Barack Obama recently spoke out in support of electric cars, claiming that they could put an end to overpriced gas woes once and for all. And while this is true, keeping a vehicle running on gas still poses many benefits that may keep drivers off of electricity. Gas gives customers more drive for their buck, and charging an electric car can take up to 30 minutes compared to the seconds needed to fill up a tank of gas. According to the report, electric cars do not completely cut out carbon waste, either.

As one of the prime retailers of backup camera systems, the folks here at Rear View Safety simply want to see cars to become as safe and efficient as possible. And whether you opt to drive the electric cars of the future or the gas-powered models of today, our vehicle backup cameras will help ensure that no one gets hurt on the road.

Subaru Recalls Cars with Engine Issues

In addition to educating drivers on the benefits of backup camera systems, the Rear View Safety blog strives to provide our readers with car safety information from all over the web. Today’s story is no exception, as the Wall Street Journal Blog recently reported on a major recall on Subaru vehicles.

According to the story, Subaru is holding a recall on select Legacy, Outback, Impreza, and Crosstrek vehicles from the past few years. The manufacturer is looking to correct an electrical issue that could cause car engines to start on their own. This recall includes a staggering 47,419 vehicles, all of which are outfitted with remote engine starting technology. Owners of these dysfunctional vehicles could be at risk, as the engine can quickly cause a buildup of carbon monoxide upon starting up.

We strongly suggest that all Subaru owners find out if their vehicle falls under the recall. The car manufacturer can be contacted for more information at 800-782-2783. Interior car safety should be of paramount importance for all car owners, but it is not the only thing to consider when it comes to being cautions with your car. Combined with a reliable engine, our vehicle backup cameras are designed to provide everyday road hazards in all type of conditions.

Cars Going Greener than Ever

If you have shopped with Rear View Safety before or followed our blog, you likely know by now how dedicated we are to the well-being of drivers and pedestrians everywhere. It’s why “Safety” is in our name! And while our vehicle backup cameras make the roads a safer place than ever, we understand that there are more factors to creating a truly sustainable driving environment.

Just about every major industry is “going green” in some form or another, and the automotive world is certainly no exception. Eco-friendly cars are becoming more and more common, and while they are currently an expensive commodity for a select few, they could potentially comprise the majority of cars on the road one day. From the Toyota Prius to the Honda Civic Natural Gas, top car manufacturers all over the globe are finding ways to make their beloved vehicles less harmful to the environment. Cars are a major source of pollution, and cutting back on the waste produced by motor vehicles could have a massive impact on the entire world.

Here at RVS we advocate complete car safety, from using a backup camera system to safely leave a driveway to using a vehicle that minimizes air pollution. No matter which of these you use daily, you are contributing to better roads for all!

The Age of Driverless Cars?

The automotive industry is becoming more and more advanced by the day, with constant innovations being made to both interior and exterior car technology. According to MotorTrend, modern cars may become so advanced that they will be able to drive themselves. And while that sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, driver-less cars are becoming more and more practical thanks to today’s technology.

Automative supply company Continental recently demonstrated their agenda for a series of vehicles that aim to stress the “auto” in automobile. The group aims to outfit cars with automatic assistance by 2015, when they hope to have cars automatically stop in situations that could cause car crashes. Continental expects technology to advance to allow full autonomy by 2025, which conjures up futuristic images of people having their cars drive for them.

The thought of highways filled with autonomous cars seems infeasible, but is certainly a future possibility given how far the industry has come. And while Rear View Safety cannot give your car the ability to drive for you, we are proud to offer the next best thing. Our vehicle backup cameras allow you access to previously hidden blind spots, making reversing out of driveways and hitting the road safer than ever. With the help of our backup camera systems, you can drive a few miles closer to the future.
